Applicant Information

Each application form will also have a Job Description and Person Specification relating to the vacancy you are applying for. Use this information to show us how your skills, knowledge and attitude match the vacancy requirements and where possible, give examples to back up your application. Provide details of your current and previous employment, listing your most recent post first. Don’t forget to include any experience you may have gained from doing unpaid or voluntary work.

We will draw up a shortlist of applicants based on the information you have provided on your application form, so please make sure you provide enough evidence that you meet the essential and desirable qualities detailed in the Person Specification.

Please note that we do not accept applications by CV, unless specifically asked for within our advertisement.

How to Apply

To apply for any of our exciting and rewarding career opportunities, you will need to complete an application form.

You can now apply via our online application form (will we be able to do this?) Include the link if so? Simply complete the application form below and click ‘Submit’.

You can download the application form as a word document, type into it and email it to us at

Or  apply via JobsGoPublic (not applicable to all posts at present).

You will need to provide the details of two employment referees, covering the past 3 years; one of which should be your current or most recent employer or university/college. It is not acceptable to provide the name of a family member as a referee unless you were employed by them.

Disclosure relating to Board Members, Senior Managers or other Employees

If you are related to a Board Member or member of Newark and Sherwood Homes’ staff you should make us aware of this on your application form. Deliberate failure to include this information will automatically disqualify you from appointment. If the omission is discovered following your appointment, it could lead to your dismissal.

Disabled Applicants

We ask whether you have a disability on our application form. This is so that we can give your application full and fair consideration and assist your access to the organisation. Therefore, before interview we ask if you have any special needs or requirements.

We have a guaranteed interview scheme in place for applicants who consider they have a disability. This means that if you meet the minimum level of essential skills for the job (as detailed in the Person Specification of the Job Description) you will be invited to interview. Obtaining an interview under this scheme does not guarantee you the job. On completion of the selection process, the most suitable candidate will be offered the post.

Equality and Diversity Monitoring

We ask all applicants to provide information which is used to produce an overall profile analysis of the people applying for employment and to monitor Equality and Diversity. This information is confidential and will be detached by Human Resources before your application is passed on to the recruitment panel.

Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure

Some of our roles require a CRB check to be carried out prior to you starting work. You will be made aware if this is the case for the vacancy you have applied for.

Asylum and Immigration Act 1996

It is a criminal offence for an employer to employ a person who is not entitled to live or work in the UK. To project Newark and Sherwood Homes from committing a criminal offence, we require all potential employees to produce a number of official documents to be checked before an offer of employment can be made. We will scan the original documents and retain copies securely. These documents may include a passport showing that the holder is a British citizen or has a right to abode in the UK, a document showing a National Insurance Number and name, a birth certificate or a work permit issued by Work Permits UK.

Trade Union Membership

Newark and Sherwood Homes welcomes union membership and has a strong working relationship with its recognised unions.
