On Wednesday, September 4 we hosted an afternoon tea at Kings Court Community Centre in Southwell, marking the end of our series of events across the district to celebrate 100 years of council housing.
Guests were treated to sponge cakes, pastries and scones, served with tea and coffee, and entertained with a medley of songs with piano accompaniment.
Karen Colver, Housing Services Manager, opened the tea with a welcome and information on the history of social housing in Newark and Sherwood. Councillor Penny Rainbow also addressed the guests and thanked Newark and Sherwood Homes for hosting such a successful afternoon.
During the event, a special celebratory fruit cake, which was kindly donated by Board Member Mick Frettsome and his wife, Cora, was presented.
We would like to thank sponsors Bakkavor, Brakes and Woodhead Group as without them the event would not have been possible.
