Changes are coming to the way people can apply for council housing from Newark and Sherwood District Council through Newark and Sherwood Homes.
From Thursday, April 4 anyone looking for a new home will be able to complete an application to join the housing register, view available properties and register interest in a property online through the Newark and Sherwood Homes website.
The new streamlined approach keeps pace with the majority of services now being delivered online, is more accessible and is environmentally friendly, reducing paper applications.
To bid on available properties, applicants will need to visit the ‘MyAccount’ section of the Newark and Sherwood Homes website and use their housing application reference to create an account. A housing application reference number will be provided once an application to join the housing register has been completed.
Rebecca Rance, chief executive of Newark and Sherwood Homes, commented: “We are delighted to be introducing a new, interactive and efficient way for people to apply for and access the housing they need. We will be offering support to those who need it, guiding them through the changes and supporting them to make an application if necessary.”
Anyone with concerns or questions about the changes should contact Newark and Sherwood Homes by calling 0800 561 0010 or emailing email@example.com.
