Last week we were at the Future First Expo, which was held at Newark Showground. More than 900 secondary school students from across the Newark and Sherwood district visited the expo and we were delighted to speak to so many students who were interested in a career in housing!
When speaking with the students, we explained the variety of different job roles we have at Newark and Sherwood Homes, including customer services, business administration, repairs and maintenance, development, finance, surveying, information technology and tenancy management.
Many students were also interested to hear more about our successful apprenticeship scheme, REACH, which stands for Recruiting and Employing Apprentices Championing Housing. This scheme allows us to invest in those who are committed to developing a career with us.
Cara Clarkson, Business Services Manager at Newark and Sherwood Homes, commented: “It was so encouraging to hear from students with such big aspirations for their future. Many were interested in hearing from us on what career opportunities are available and were surprised to learn how many different types of careers are available across the housing sector! We hope to see many of the students apply for our next apprenticeship scheme when it opens next Summer.”
